of Laboratoires Urgo, this non profit
making foundation offers clinicians and
researchers the opportunity of funding for
the development of a local project which will
be of benefit to the wound care community.
The annual Prize fund is €25,000
and will be awarded by the UK Board in
two subject areas: Clinical and Scientific.
Mentorship and support will be
available to successful applicants.

Smith and Nephew/Wounds UK roadshows |
Smith and Nephew in conjunction with Wounds UK have begun a series of roadshows which will reach 40 venues over a six week period. There has been an overwhelming response with over 1500 nurses subscribing for the events so far. The aim is to address the issues which impact on patients who develop wound complications such as infection, pain excess exudate and odour. Some of the leading experts from across the UK are speaking at the events. For more information follow the link below:

Ghecko inspired dressings one to watch |
US researchers have created a dressing which is designed to mimic the way which a ghecko can cling to walls and ceilings. The material is designed to be adherent in wet environments and therefore may be used primarily on internal repairs. There is potential for an external dressing to follow which may be useful for patients with highly exuding wounds where dressing adherence is problematic.

WUWHS
The previous World Union of Wound Healing Societies Meeting was held in Paris in 2004, and was a huge success. This years' event in Toronto promises to be an incredible occasion. The theme for the conference is One Problem One Voice, and aims to bring together experts from around the world working towards improved patient care.
