Recent news about pressure ulcers!

Over the 2nd and 3rd of April 2008 the Tissue Viability Society will host its annual conference in Peterborough. This issue of the pressure ulcer newsletter includes the call for abstracts, full programme and a booking form for this important event this Spring. As the Tissue Viability Society moves into its 27th year it is refreshing to see this organisation shaking off problems that beset it over recent years centered upon a cancelled one-day conference in autumn 2006 and issues with the previous publisher of the Journal of Tissue Viability. With the Journal of Tissue Viability now re-launched in partnership with Elsevier Ltd and conferences back on track the future is looking bright for the TVS.

At the end of 2007 a new initiative was launched in Wales - the Wales Wounds Network bringing together the wide range of academic, clinical and commercial skills in human wound healing in Wales. With over 80 delegates at its inaugural meeting in October 2007 and an ambitious programme of events over the spring and early summer of 2008 this new venture promises to promote Wales as a major centre for wounds in the United Kingdom. Future issues of this newsletter will bring more news of this initiative.

Keep an eye out for the first drafts of the EPUAP and NPUAP pressure ulcer prevention and treatment guidelines - early drafts of both guidelines will be available in the Spring so register as a stakeholder to get first sight of these new document and offer your comments to the guideline developers.
