KCI to acquire SystagenixUS-based KCI has announced its intent to purchase UK-based Systagenix, by the close of this year.

Systagenix moist wound healing products, such as Promogran Prisma (collagen dressings), Tielle (foam dressings) and Adaptic Touch (a non-adhesive wound contact layer) are often used before, during and after use of KCI’s core negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) products.

KCI intends the acquisition to diversify its product portfolio and strengthen its position in the global wound care industry.

“The combination of KCI and Systagenix creates a winning platform across the entire wound care continuum,” said Joe Woody, president and CEO at KCI. “It increases our ability to address the complete wound healing needs of clinicians and their patients with best-in-class outcomes that help to reduce the overall cost of patient care.”

Ernest Waaser, CEO at Systagenix said, “The strong clinical capabilities, geographic presence, complementary products and established infrastructure of KCI will further expand the long-term growth potential for Systagenix.”
