3D wound-imaging technology now available on the NHS Supply ChainThe Eykona® Wound Measurement System has been adopted by the NHS Supply Chain as an innovative and cost-saving tool.

The Eykona® system is a 3D portable camera that uses software to record precise changes in wound size and tissue condition without the need for tracings, dipstick depth and measurement, or resin casts. It provides a full-colour image of the wound and stores all patient data in one central location, which can be accessed by members of the multidisciplinary team and across care settings.

This ensures that the right treatment is in place at every stage of the wound healing process, potentially reducing costs.

"The level of accuracy achieved...[is]...far more objective than a traditional 2D photograph would provide", says Lt Col Steven Jeffery, Visiting Professor, Birmingham City University. In addition it "allows for efficient communication between members of the team...as well as positively feeding back to the patient".
