TCC-EZ: Making the CasePrevalence of diabetes continues apace in the UK and the knock-on effect of this on patients, clinicians and the economy should not be understated. Some 80% of UK spend on diabetes is used to treat complications associated with the condition: £600m–£700m is spent each year on ulcers and amputations. With common complications of diabetes now carrying higher mortality rates than a number of cancers, including breast and prostate cancer, the need for interventions that improve healing and reduce re-ulceration rates has never been greater. This Making the Case looks at the positive outcomes for both patients and the NHS of using non-removable Total Contact Casts in the treatment of DFUs.
