Pressure ulcer incidence is on the decline, we have still to achieve zero tolerance goal, suggesting a need for novel, simple and effective ways of integrating prevention into everyday nursing care. This article reports on an evaluation of KerraPro™ Pressure Reducing Pads, a range of shaped pads made from 100% silicone, designed to help protect the skin of at-risk patients as part of a pressure ulcer prevention programme. Clinicians reported favourably on pressure redistribution, ease of application, whether the product remained in place, patient acceptability and convenience. The results provide supportive evidence for the use of this product. In conclusion, KerraPro has a role to play in preventing avoidable pressure ulcers and reducing the incidence of avoidable harm to patients.
