This literature review on how to manage chronic wounds in palliative patients, with a focus on the symptomatic control of pain, aims to provide suitable guidance for nurses in any clinical setting. Each section reviews the literature available and provides recommendations for practice for this specific issue. The main themes that emerge from this review include the use of non-opioid and opioid preparations in pain management and the need to consider pain during dressing changes throughout any intervention.
