Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) threatens the effective prevention and treatment of an ever-increasing range of infections and poses a serious threat to global public health (World Health Organization [WHO], 2014). As well as sustaining effectiveness of existing antibiotics through better prescribing practices, it is important that other options are explored to combat infection.
